Smith Field (Cambria Airfield)
Located just across the road from the winery, the grass airfield is still in use today.
Many years ago, long-time local flyer, George Graff gave the three young Smith brothers (Don, Ray, & Robert) rides in his airplane, from that point on- they were hooked. In 1960 Don Smith (youngest brother) built the runway. All three brothers became pilots and airplane mechanics.
- The brothers past down their flying skills to the younger family members, Peter and his sister Jennifer who also became pilots. In 1976 Niagara Soaring Club joined the Airfield and operates there regularly. One of the most anticipated yearly fund-raisers is the Annual Fly-In Breakfast sponsored by the Cambria Volunteer Fire Company- held on the 1st or 2nd Sunday in September.
